What Dr. Assini Brings

Dr. Joseph Assini is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in rapid recovery protocols and patient-centered care for patients needing hip or knee replacements. He utilizes advanced techniques and technologies such as the direct anterior hip, patient specific implants, medial pivot total knee replacement, and robotic-assisted surgery to optimize patient outcomes. These innovative surgical techniques result in nearly all of Dr. Assini's patients being discharged home the same day as their procedure.

Dr. Assini is a recognized leader in orthopedic innovation — serving on the design team for 2 modern hip implants (Profemur TL2 and Nexus, Microport Orthopedics). He is also one of the innovators of AnteriorPATH^®, a minimally invasive technique for total hip arthroplasty. As a surgeon consultant and Advisory Board Member for Microport Orthopedics, Dr. Assini routinely instructs fellow surgeons around the world on how to utilize advanced hip approaches and medial pivot total knee implants (Evolution MedialPivot, Microport Orthopedics) to optimize outcomes in their own patients.

Dr. Assini is a regular speaker on robotics, medial pivot total knee design and rapid recovery techniques. Each year, he proctors two fellows from leading institutions in Canada and US as they prepare for their own careers. He pursues ongoing research in pain management and surgical innovation and has published numerous papers relating to total joint replacement. Dr. Assini is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Western Orthopedic Association.

Since 2014, Dr. Assini has practiced in Denver, Colorado, where he lives with his wife and 2 daughters.

What Dr. Loucks Brings

Dr. Craig Loucks is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive, outpatient hip and knee replacement. He has been in private practice in Denver, Colorado since 2003 and performed over 10,000 procedures.

He is an expert in minimally invasive hip and knee surgery including Anterior Approach hip replacement and medially stabilized patient-specific total knee replacement using advanced recovery protocols and same-day discharge.

Dr. Loucks has performed surgery on hundreds of Canadians in Denver over the last decade and in addition travels to Calgary, Alberta once per month to perform private surgery.

Since 2004 he has been an invited international speaker and faculty member for multiple hip and knee instructional courses and lectures. He was one of the earliest adopters in the USA of the Anterior Approach for total hip in 2004 and since 2016 has been a huge proponent and teacher of Kinematic Alignment in total knee replacement.

He serves on the Educational Advisory Board for Medacta internationally for both hips and knees. In addition, he is a design surgeon creating novel techniques and implant systems including the MyKnee^® PSI system, the Medacta GMK Sphere^® medially stabilized knee, and the modern AMIS-P hip stem.

He has participated in research and has peer-reviewed publications, along with book chapters. He was an attending surgeon for the Colorado Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Program. He has served as the chairman and chief of Orthopedics at two large metro Denver hospital systems.

What Dr. Greenhow Brings

Dr. Greenhow has extensive training in minimally invasive joint replacement of the hip and knee, in combination with computer navigation, robotic, and patient-specific technologies. He was one of the first two surgeons in Colorado to perform the minimally invasive, muscle-sparing (MIS) anterior hip replacement procedure beginning in 2004. Dr. Greenhow is one of the designing surgeons for a femoral stem implant used in hip replacement surgery, a patient-specific knee replacement technique (Medacta MyKnee^®) using CT scan technology and 3D printing, and a total knee replacement system which allows for improved knee kinematics and improved stability (Medacta GMK Sphere^®), all of which are being implanted around the globe.

Dr. Greenhow is currently a consultant for an international orthopedic implant company (Medacta, Inc.). He serves on the Educational Advisory Boards for Anterior Approach Hip Replacement and Kinematic Alignment for knee replacements and acts as an instructor and proctor in the US and internationally with regularly scheduled lectures and cadaveric labs. He utilizes cutting edge techniques including outpatient joint replacement, MIS, kinematic alignment and medial-stabilized knee replacements.

To date, Dr. Greenhow has performed over 10,000 hip and knee surgeries. He has performed hundreds of hip and knee joint replacements on patients that have travelled from Canada to Colorado for surgery, as well as from many other countries around the world. Dr. Greenhow is involved in clinical research and is one of 3 principal teaching surgeons in the Colorado Adult Reconstruction fellowship program. He has published numerous scientific publications and book chapters.
